Colors in His Life

After seeing Afif's mommy so diligently taught him recognizing the alphabets, I became ashamed of myself. I'm a SAHM and yet too lazy to coach my son the basic things he needs to know at his age. To make it worse, he is such a fast learner, so it'll be a waste if I let time flies without teaching him everything that he could absorb at this age.

So now I'm adamant to make him recognize the alphabets, numbers etc. He can recite them alright, but still struggling in recognizing them.

But he's doing pretty well with colors though, alhamdulillah.

On a different note, I've always been quite impressed with the Montessori approach for kids' education.  But to send him to Montessori kindy, is out of our budget! Perhaps I could try implement the basic guidelines in homeschooling the little guy. That is, until the time we decide to send him to school.

Face mask idaman kalbu

We went for Little Spidey expedition earlier this evening at Toys R' Us, but out of the blue, the big momma got hooked up on this Optimus Prime helmet! I've seen it earlier in one of the blogs and it was supposedly expensive, and found only abroad. So can you imagine how psyched I was when I found it here in Penang for 1/4 of the supposedly price. Oh I want it sooo badly!! Too bad the little guy was afraid of it, he wouldn't even let it be placed around his head at all! When the big guy put it on and spoke in a robotic voice, the little guy became more adamant NOT TO HAVE IT! He's just plain scared of that little macho head!

Now I'm thinking of ways to get the big guy to buy it for...ME! Hahaha! Perhaps he would find it irresistible if I tell him that I would allow him to order me around in his Optimus Prime's voice when he put that thing on, and I would do ANYTHING, I repeat ANYTHING that he orders me to. What do you think? Hehehe.

Old habit dies hard

When he was about to reach 2 y.o, we decided to put a stop to the little guy's pacifying habit. It wasn't easy because he practically never left his pacifier unattended. I had to be 'stone cold' about it as there was no other way for him. We've tried coffee and stuff before, it just didn't work on this guy.

The day we decided to stop him from pacifying, it was a week before our Cameron Trip. Consecutively he had a high fever for the whole week resulting from that. But finally all those heart-wrenching moments looking at him so pitiful without his pacifier paid, because he was finally free from that evil evil thing! Or so we thought.

Last night, I was wondering where the heck was my little guy when suddenly I saw him hiding in between the sofas, sucking on the damn thing while reading! Mana plak dia jumpa nih! This has got to be the ones that I didn't had the heart to throw last time and now he finally found it again!

Jangan esok sampai dah ada cucu dok hisap puting lagi sudah la pakcik kenit oi!

Our own Art Galery to be open soon!

Remember I had these boxes transferred from my mum's place to ours?

It has sooo many useful things in there. Especially for the little guys. It was not only filled with books but a lot of stationary like pencil colors, crayons, water colors, pencil cases and stuff. The little guy went bonkers once he saw them but I put them up high high in his toy drawers so that he won't be drawing on the walls.

So since he is sooo into colors nowadays sampai nak makan pun siap identify the colors of each food bagai, so I thought why not we have some fun with colors? And this is how we do it! I asked him to say out loud the color that he wanted, and asked him to picked it up fromt he box. Just to make sure he knows the color by name.

The son's FIRST EVER masterpiece is now ready to be stuck on the fridge door! The moment it was done, he take a look at it and said "Mama, that's nice! Satgi show abah ok?!?' Hahahaha! MASUK BAKUL ANGKAT SENDIRI.

I just can't wait for us to open our very own galery together, son!

Entry nak muntah!

My family knows how very fussy I can be when it comes to toilet and everything that comes with it. There was a time when I could only do my 'big business' at our home toilet and nowhere else. My mom was always so pissed off with me when we went to relative's house because I would be bugging her to go back whenever I needed to 'go'. Hahaha!

I also had this huge hatred towards germs. And I hate so much going to the public toilet because..well, THEY ARE FULL OF GERMS!!! So you can only imagine my horror whenever we go out and the little guy poop big time, and I need to wash him in public washroom!

That's exactly what happened last Sunday when we had Iftar at the UiTM Hotel. We were there for a farewell Iftar for one of the big guy's friend. I was just sitting there enjoying my food when I thought I heard someone complained "Apa bau busuuuukkkk niiiii????". Hahaha! Yerp! The little guy dah buat cake seketoi in his diaper. My wishful thinking to have the big guy wash him up didn't come true, so I HAD TO DO IT IMMEDIATELY lest someone would choke and die due to the toxin spreading in the air!

OMG! I tell you that was the most horrible stinkiest mess I have ever had to handle in public.  Like, seriously! He was having diarrhea so you can imagine the rest. There and then, I just wished that we were having Iftar at the comfort of my aunty's house with the rest of the clan instead of there! The toilet wasn't up to my standard of hotel toilet, and I just had to hold myself from throwing up during the whole process of cleaning him up! I won't tell you more or else I would have to take responsibility for all you vomiting right in front of your pc. It is suffice to say that, I told the little guy that we both needed to be samak-ed the moment we reached home!

That night, I possibly had the longest shower ever in my life. Even after all the scrubbing till my skin became sore, I still felt unclean and thought I needed to disinfect myself with something stronger!

THE GIGANTIC POOP!

This morning, the little guy made the sound that he usually made when dia berak keras  he's about to do his 'business'. Immediately Mr. Grumpy Man pulled him to the toilet and put him on the toilet bowl.

Mind you, this boy has never ever poop in the toilet before. So I doubted he would do it this time.

But the big guy left him sitting there for almost five minutes while encouraging him to poop. Suddenly the little guy looked at his dad, sounded unsure "Ehh..tuuuuu dia abah". And when the Grumpy Man took a look inside the bowl, he cheered gibberishly; "Yayy! Irfan yak yak! Irfan yak yak!".The little guy was excited too, he started talking loudly in his excitement "IRFAN YAK YAK BEEEEESHAAAQQ!!!!". Hahahaha!

Now, I hope this will mark our very first step in the toilet train progress.

*Footnote : yak-yak = poop

Stinky vomits euwww euuuwwwwww!

I'm a super busy momma today!

Busy cleaning up after the little guy's vomits! Eeeeeeeeeeuwww! They smell N.A.S.T.Y okeh! But what to do, it's the kind of thing that a mom has to do even though she swore never to wash a single poop or clean up any vomits of her kids before being a mom. Yeah, my imagination was totally deceiving while we were courting, wishing very hard the big guy would take over all the gross jobs of being parents! But once the little guy popped out, I just had to kiss goodbye to all those sweet sweet imagination of mine. REALITY BITES! Ouch ouch!!

Anyway, this little angel of mine has been extra clingy since last night. Wanted to sleep o n top of me and when we moved him into his own bed, he made his father slept by his side till he dozed off. Then in the wee hours of the morning, I heard a gurgling noise in my dream and after a couple of seconds realized that it was my son choking on his own vomit! Now, he's been vomiting frequently since. Refused to eat and drink. Just lying in bed watching stupid programs on the free channels!

One more day to Ramadhan and my boy is sick. Poor little darling! And happy Ramadhan Al-Mubarak to all fellow bloggers!

Wonder Girls : One WONDER BOY in the making

Seems that everyone is going gaga over ermmm... NO! NOT LADY GAGA PLEASE!!! Though she seems to be making lots of appearances recently in quiet a number of TV series that I've watched (read : Gossip Girls and Glee!).

Anyway.

It's the Wonder Girls I'm talking about. The big guy is having it very bad. Dia dah kena hinggap dengan penyakit. Every night he would be sitting snugly on the couch menghadap desktop, you-tubing them and everything that has got to do with them. Gila bayang sangaaaaaaaattt! Hehe.

Since the first time listening to the NOBODY song, I can't seem to tune out the song outta my head too! I've been humming to it and singing only the chorus part (cause that's the only part I know) until the little guy can sing them too. Every time he sees the advert on  the tele, he would go "Badeee badeeee but yewwwwww!". Hahaha! Sahih anak bapak hokeh!

5.8.10

Professional Masseur at Your Service, Sir!

All these while, I had been too lazy to lather lotions all over the little guy's body. I would bathe him, tempek a bit of powder on his face just to make him look fresh from shower and that's it! But then I began to notice how dry his skin started to get and all.

So I had to fight my laziness and made sure that I lather lotions on his body after every bath time. Oh man! Little did I knew how this boy would enjoy his 'massage' session so much. He especially loves it when I start massaging his back. Terus mata kuyu wa cakap lu! Hahaha!

Nowdo you know how much I envy you, little guy? You've got your own personal masseur at your service, anytime, anywhere! What about me? I need someone to massage my aching feet and head after such long days of enduring all your antics! Grow up cepat so I can buli you in doing that for me, ok?

Mamak barber can eat his heart out!

Dear Abah,

While you were away at work, mama did something that changed my total appearance from a zero to a hero. Look at me, what do you think of it?!

Mama is so ecstatic that she almost get back the tempurung haircut that she has always like on me! What about you abah?!? Do you like it too? Hehehe.

Dolls Vs. Robots

As a kid, I simply loved playing with dolls. ESPECIALLY the barbie dolls. So last couple of nights when we went for a quick shopping at one of the departmental stores, I suddenly get the urge to buy Barbie dolls. Look at those on the racks! They're simply divine, aren't they?

But for whom shall I buy them for???? I don't even have a daughter!!!

Even though the only son that we have can sometimes get confuse with his fashion sense, but still! He's a boy!

And being a boy, of course he will act boyish when it comes to the choice of toys he wants to play with. Oh my! He's just so into guns and robots now, I get kapla pusing every time he asks me to play with him.

Anyone care to lend me their daughter for just one day? I want to have a calm play session  hosting a pretend tea party with the dolls. Pretty please?!?!

Bila anak mula mengarah

My life is just sweet and dandy like an ice cream with crusty chocolaty topping on top! I WISH!

Just when I've got some transcribing jobs to do, which is quite rare nowadays, all the equipments I needed to do the job decided to fail on me! First the laptop that I've been using all this while went kaput! Which reminds me, OMG I've got all the important documents in there esp that of the diaper cakes orders and also my transcribing invoices. SHOOTTT!!

Then the speaker is not working so well. Sometimes ok sometimes not. The headphone is giving trouble too  where one side isn't functioning, thus I have to listen to the other side with so much concentration that I think I would go bonkers any moment from...*look at the wall clock* now!

The little guy definitely didn't make it any easier for me. He's been COMPLAINING people! Yeah this boy is sooooo like nenek kebayan nowadays,he  keeps on complaining that all I ever do is KEJA KEJA KEJA and not spending enough time entertaining him. Boleh? Budak 2 tahun pun dah pandai complain ek skarang?!? Yesterday as he got up from his afternoon nap (which rarely  happened nowadays), he wanted to have a bath. I kept on telling him we'd do it in a minute or so  as i was mopping the house and such.

In the end, as he pressured me with his non-stop chattering I gave in to him. I just wanted to do a final touch up on the mopping part when he suddenly appeared in the doorway and SIGHED EXASPERATEDLY! Dia sighed ok! Like 'Haaaaaaaaaaiiishhh'! Then he made an exasperated face at me while saying "Enough lahhhhhh!". Hahaha! Seriously, I don't know whether to feel amused or irritated by that. Not enough with the big boss bossing me around at night, now I've got a little boss to tell me what to do and what not during the days pulak!

Ain't my life the sweetest of them all??? *slaps forehead!*

27.7.10

You want those handbags for your keeping?I totally disapprove!!

Today I'm just pretty busy with the transcribing job. I told the little guy not to disturb me and brought his books and toys into the study room. Hoping that I could do my stuff in peace.

My wish didn't come true as he only managed to playealone for about 5 minutes, and then he started to bother me by asking so many questions just for the sake of distracting me from my work. So I told him firmly; "Please don't bother me, mama nak buat kerja". And then much to my dismay, he started to throw tantrum and screamed at me "JANGAN BUAT KERJA!!!" while threw the books and toys to the walls. I tried talking him out of it but tak jalan. So mak dia pun apa lagik! Tantrum balik lah!

That got him to settle down for a few moments. So I happily proceeded to do my work. After a while, I realized that things are like eerily quiet in here. So I look over my shoulder and saw this :

Adegan mencuit hati di tengah malam : Twisties Mesti Mau!

Time : 12.30 am. last night.
The ambient : Dark and suspense, macam dalam cerita hantu omputih

After cleaning up the whole night, the big momma was resting on the couch. At the hall. She was munching on Chachos while bloghopping. The big guy and the little guy was already in the bedroom, sleeping. Or so she thought.

While she was absorbed in reading one of your blog, she heard a voice "MAMA  MAKAN APA TUUU??!?!?". She was so terkejut beruk 'monkey-shocked' that she almost peed in her pants! Astaga! It turned out to be the little guy, who wandered out of the room as he couldn't sleep just yet. Thank God it was not some huge black hairy monster coming to strangle her to death!

Anyway, since he wanted to join munching on the junk food in the wee hours of the morning, the big momma let him. She really wasn't in the mood to make a scene in her own house with her own son at that hour. After munching on his first bite, the little guy scrutinized the package carefully. He then raised  eyebrow questioningly at me; "Ni bukan 'MESTI MAU' kan mama? Ni apa ni?!?"

Hahaha!

Kan big momma dah mengilai macam vampire tengah-tengah malam! The TV influence on kids nowadays are so evident in their speeches, isn't it? So TV producers, be more careful in the type of programs you allow to be aired on your channel. We don't want our kids to be influenced by secular thoughts, ok!

6.7.10

The little guy has got slang I tell you!

Last week, my cousin was laughing at the way the little guy speaks. Said my cousin, his slang sounds like a true mamak nasi kandaq indeed. Haha! I didn't realize that before, though I do realize that he has this one-kind of pelat-ness when he speaks.

Tapi kalau cakap omputih ok la pulak!

So I've been paying extra attention to his speech this week. And I managed to grasp the weirdness of his pronunciation! Perhaps out of laziness, he likes to omit  some alpahabets from the words he uttered. Like KUAH is pronounced as KOH. TAKMAU is TA'MO to him. And AMBIK is AMEK.  But when you  ask them to pronounce it the correct way, he can do it. He's just plain lazy to do it every time.  Looking at the rate he's talking; hundreds of sentences per minute, I can totally understand the laziness indeed.

But the thing is, he pronounced those words in a very sengau slang too! But my SIL once remarked that we (me and all the brothers) speaks ala-ala sengau too. So I guess it's all in the genes! Hahaha! Oh, btw.  The most funniest pronunciation so far in his dictionary is TELOQ. Which is pronounced as TUYOQ! Apakah?!? Hahaha!

To add to the list, the big guy is now worrying that the little guy has lisp-y tongue. He pronounce S as Ash. The big guy said it's all because I like to tease my youngest brother of his lisp-y tongue. Imagine being 18 y.o and still pronounce S as Ash. Hahaha! Lawak okeh! Anyway, I'm not worried about it. It's only common for toddlers to not be able to pronounce certain words properly. Like R and S. Kan kan kan? But even if it stays on til he gets older, mak tak kisah. Comei apa! Hahaha!

Now back to the accent, I think you better stick to the English language lah little guy!

30.6.10

The carnivores of my life!

If I could classify the big guy into an animal class, I would sort him into the carnivore class. That's because he only eats meat, and never vegetables! So I was only too thankful when the little guy turns out to be herbivore. This boy not only loves eating meat, he also gives his veges undivided love and attention they need. He can eat fresh tomatoes just like that. Carrots toksah kata lah, it's like cikadees to him. I never had problems making him eat the vegetables. Well, at least not until.... NOW!

Most of the time I would include tomatoes, carrot and potato in his soup. And he loves them all the same. But this time I just wanted to change the menu a little bit, so I included cauliflower in the soup. Oh this boy hates hates HATESSSS them! He can detect them even in the smallest pieces and would shriek "FLOWER TAKMAU!". He even went to the extent of picking them out from the spoon every time I tried to smuggle them into his mouth. I hope he won't turn into his father soon.

Oh son! For the sake of human kind, please stick to the herbivore class. I simply can't handle two carnivores in my life!

28.6.10

Jangan Lupa Lirik!

My biras and I have been talking about forming a boy band, with our little guys. They both love to sing, and they even get addicted to the same song! Mine loves to sing out of tune though. And at times, he will hentam the lyrics but that's what makes it all the cuter!

Now excuse me while I go teach him his parents' theme song masa mula-mula berchenta dulu!

25.6.10

Penat slaving over paperwork, but it was all worth it in the end!

Yesterday was a busy day for me. I had to provide excellent service to the little boss, as he had an important proposal to complete and submit to the big boss before night came. The proposal was going to benefit both of us, so I attended to all his need as much I could. WITHOUT any complains, ok.

See, he worked so hard sampai breakfast pun terpaksa send at his workstation. Siap request "Mamak, nak (peanut) butter and bread and cheese. And Ovaltine jugak!". Mamak pun "Ok, siap!"

But it was all worth it in the end. He submitted the proposal to the big boss, and that night itself terus big boss went to get the Toy Story 3 tickets for this Saturday!

Wowweee! After this, help your mother do a proposal to buy new high heels for raya plak ok shweetheart!

Kisah seorang pemain bola sepak terlampau

Sports is seriously not my thing. I remember I used to skip P.E's lessons in school by giving lots of stupid excuses to P.E teacher. Tak suka lah busuk-busuk peluh ok! I also remember that during sukan tara in secondary school, I was the second last to arrive at the finishing line for acara jalan kaki (or something like that). That despite my dad continued cheering me all the way, as he arrived a little bit too early to pick me up from school. And oh, the last person behind me had a heart problem, so of course she got a concrete reason to arrive last. Haha!

So, you can only imagine my excitement when The World Cup is finally here. I was thinking "Oh gosh! Hours and hours of grown up men kicking balls here and there. My life will be over soon!er than expected". Thank heaven we don't have Astro at home! So whenever the big guy watches The World Cup on TV1, I would be watching other channel in our bedroom.

Anyway, just recently after countless of times being sogok with the Messi ads on TV,  my teenage hormone started to rage! I suddenly developed a certain fondness for him. Very strong! Huwaaa. Boleh tahan comeiiii jugak si Messi ni kan! Look at those hair. And THE smile! I can't remember seeing any guys on earth having as sweet a smile as his. Oh except for the little guy 's of course. Ah, and the big guy's too. terpaksa cakap kalau tak nanti dia takmau bayaq handbag Coach beli that day.

If any brilliant movie producer would hire Messie to be in his movie, you can be rest assured that I would be the first in line to queue for the ticket. Not AMONG the first ok, but THE FIRST!

All images are of course googled!

Now I'm extremely pissed off with the mamak jahat for chopping off the little guy's hair last time! If not, I would have been able to dress him up in the Argentina's jersey sambil feeling-feeling dalam rumah I ada Lionel Messi! but haruslah lumur Fair N Lovely satu badan si kenit nih
My bro got this jersey from the Feringgi Night Market. Apani?! Tak sama pun macam Messi punya! Muhammad H****fah Idris, I demand the stripe jersey for Irfan please!

21.6.10

Tolong jangan benci saya sebab anak saya buat bising dalam panggung wayang!

The little guy has been getting so excited every time he sees the Toy Story 3 advert on TV. So last week  I was all set to bring him to his first movie experience ever! That's because I could see him associate with the movie characters and I noticed too that his attention span is getting better.

So, once the big guy gave his green light, I got so worked out thinking of the fun we were going to have watching movie together! It was the most anticipated moment of my life! One of my son's FIRST experiences in doing something huge! Tengok movie with a 2 y.o is a huge experience in my book okay!

So last Saturday, off we went to buy tickets for the movie. The big guy went to check at QB but it was full house except for midnight show. Oh no! Midnight is no good as little guy would be asleep by then, so off we went shopping first before making a stop at GSC Gurney Plaza. We reached GSC at around 6:30, and the next available slot for Toy Story 3 was at 9ish pm. The big guy refused to wait that long as we've been out since afternoon. So we had to settle for the available shows instead. Sob sob!

Seriously, I was soooo disappointed that we didn't managed to catch the Toy Story. Now, I don't know about you. But I seriously hate the way it makes me feel when I don't get to fulfill my baby's desire. Cehh! Macam lah dia kisah sangat kan. Come on, he's only 2 years! He wouldn't miss what he didn't get. But I don't know why, I was seriously sebak ja tetiba! I was thinking all sorts of things like "His first movie experience ever, and not watching something he had been so psyched about!". And things like that you know. I guess fathers don't get emotional like that, the way we mothers do. Tsk tsk tsk.

First popcorn experience!

First 1901 experience!

Oh and to make matters worse for me, every time he saw the Toy Story banner/bunting, the little guy would shout and jump with joy "Woooooww! Toy Stoyie!" and made people around him laughed looking at his over-excitement. Lagiiii la sebak mama dia kan!

Anyway, once we were inside the cinema - watching Nanny McPhee instead - the little guy was just excited all the same. He was quite jakun looking at big screen TV and the fantastic surround system, that he didn't take his eyes off the screen for the whole 10 minutes. But his attention span lasted for only that long, before he discovered the joy of the kerusi lipat and started to sandwich himself in between them. And trying to squeeze himself along the aisle and between his parents' legs. And oh, he even went overboard by asking for popcorn from the kakak seating in front of him! Nasib  the kakak thought the he was cute instead of annoying. I think. Cause the kakak just grinned joyously at him. Whatever.

However, the worst part was, he couldn't stop talking so loudly that I was afraid someone would throw eggs at us right there and then. Luckily no sumpah seranah came our way, though I noticed and tried to ignore some hateful stares from a couple of ladies after the show ended. Hiks. Anyway.  You can't blame me! I tried to be discreet with him by whispering every time I wanted to talk to him, but the big guy spoke to him in his normal voice every time, which in that hushed environment sounded like a bomb explosion at Pearl Harbour! Haih! So the little guy, taking cue from his dad, thought that it was okay to scream like he always does. At one point of the movie, where the pigs were doing amazing stunts on the screen, he shouted so loud "Woowwwwwww!!!! PIG FLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!" that I almost went into hiding under the chair. Oh tapi tak muat, I was too big for the minute space. Haha!

The movie was quite good, and I enjoyed it despite not paying 100% attention to what was shown on the screen. I know the little guy had such fun time too, though he didn't understand half of it. But the best thing was, he just loved being in the cinema as it was totally a new experience for him. Oh, he didn't tell me that! I just made it all up to make it sound as if it was such unforgettable experience for a 2 y.o like him. Hahaha!!

But seriously, despite not getting to watch what we initially planned to watch, the experience was still priceless. Hopefully the big guy tak serik wanna bring his son to the movie again. We still have time to catch the Toy Story 3 this weekend kan kan kan! Hehehe.

Oh, since tak dapat tengok the movie, I bought the toy for him instead. Now my days are filled with the rifle shots by the bravest galaxy defender ever, Muhammad Aqil Irfan!! *pengsan!*
