More than a year back, when we were busy preparing for my BIL's wedding, the big guy, the little guy and I was asked to spend some nights at my BIL's house. That's because the place is closer to my PIL's house compared to ours. Plus the fact that the house was unoccupied saved for weekend visits by them.
One day, I was sitting at the hall nearing Maghrib time, still absorbed with the hantarans and what nots when I heard a hissing sound, followed by bau wangi yang amat sangat! The hair at the back of my nape stood up like nobody's business!
Period.
Fast forward to last night.
I was feeling feverish and had stomach ache the whole day, so decided to skip the kenduri that the big guy was supposed to attend with his parents. Since we were already there at my PIL's place, I was asked by the big guy to lepak at the house while they attended the kenduri. It was my first time being there alone AT NIGHT and being me who's such a scaredy cat, every single sounds I heard last night made me jump out of my skin. And you know how it is when you're all alone and feeling scared, the house always seems to know it. They would start making horrendous creak sounds to make the scaredy-cat-you even more scared!
Then I heard that very same sound that I've heard at my BIL's place a year ago. A hiss. A very loud hiss that almost made me shrieked out loud. My heart pumped like crazy. Then the scent drifted into my nostrils. The familiar smell that invaded my space a year ago.
